How to Take a Airsoft Hexmag Aprt

After a long half dozen years with my Mag brand mid-capacity magazines, they have finally all died on me, so I found myself in the market for a new set of magazines for my airsoft AR platforms.  As I was browsing the internet ane Monday evening, I came across Hexmags manufactured past Dytac.  I decided to practise some research on them, and once I started down that route I never really looked back.

Let me simply start off by saying that when I start purchased these magazines and tested them out, I had my doubts.  My chief rifle at the fourth dimension a VFC SR-sixteen E3, which never really had a problem with any magazine I threw into the magazine well.  That is until I inserted these.  The first issue was that the Hexmags were very loose in the mag well and wobbled quite a flake, simply my other magazines I had used previously had like characteristics so I wrote information technology off and loaded them upwardly with some Elite Strength 0.28 gram BB's and gave them a shot.  At beginning they would but feed 1 round and become desultory afterwards.  It wasn't until I "beer can" gripped the magazine upwardly that the magazines fed like they were intended to.  E- Business firm and I also ran some diagnostics on this to detect an advisable remedy for this situation, only nosotros still haven't really found a direct answer.

I besides tried the magazines in a Chiliad&M SCAR and found similar feeding issues, though the wobble was no longer nowadays.  It was actually somewhat hard to insert and extract them from the SCAR mag well.  The feeding outcome was non equally prominent, as the Hexmags were a bit more consistent in the SCAR and feed three or so rounds before I needed to adjust or stabilize the mag again.

I have come to the conclusion that the mag well in both of those rifles just practise not similar the Hexmags, because some of the Gun Gamers crew and I accept tested multiple magazines such every bit the EVIKE BAMFs, Mag midcaps, G&P High RPS, PTS EPM's, Elite Force mags, and King Arms mags and they all fit and fed fine in my rifles.  It is entirely possible the SR-sixteen mag well isn't designed for thinner magazines, and so I volition be buying a set specifically for information technology.  They will most probable be MAG make again, as I know they piece of work flawlessly in that rifle.  Then if you accept an older VFC receiver or a G&Chiliad SCAR, you might have some problems with the Hexmags.

With the negatives out of the way though, permit'south talk near the positives with rifle compatibility and gear apply.  I recently was able to purchase a Krytac LVOA-C (written review to be debuted at a later time) and with prior testing of East-House'southward Krytac CRB with the Hexmags yielded very positive results.  They fed flawlessly, inserted effortlessly, and dropped free so I purchased a 2nd set forth with my LVOA.  With the Krytac using the Hexmags, every unmarried BB feeds flawlessly into the burglarize and not a round skips in total car in my experience.  So if you accept a burglarize that likes Hexmags, I highly recommend these!

Now as nosotros look at the mag itself, they are probably the most well thought out magazines I accept owned.  The magazines are constructed of polymer (I am not certain the exact blended blend) and they seem quite sturdy and well made.  The hexagonal pattern on the magazine makes for an easy gripping texture, peculiarly with gloves.  Information technology besides looks cool, which is 90% of airsoft of grade.

Another positive note about these magazines is that they are easy to maintain and disassemble.  I originally had one of my first Hexmags jam on me, mostly from user fault past slightly overloading it, simply it was easily resolved by dissembling the magazine and resetting the magazine spring.  To disassemble the magazine, you lot need to remove the base of operations plate and punch out a pivot subconscious underneath, and from there the magazine internals slide out of the external beat out.  This is where the Hexmag's simplicity shines, because from here the magazine spring and follower are easily removed by only pushing up on the leap memory clip and so information technology all slides out as one unit.  This allows the user to change the color of their follower as well to set them apart, especially if other teammates are using Hexmags as well.

Although I have not run these magazines for a long fourth dimension on the field, I take run them at a couple local games and for a few timed shooting and reload drills.  At the time of this review, I am running a Flyye 6094 with kangaroo insert with bungee memory along with a Blue Force Gear Helium Whisper Triple in front of that, and a Blackhawk battle belt with 2 Flyye taco pouch clones on my dominant side as a left handed shooter.  I had no bug extracting the magazines from either line of my kit, and I found the magazines to be retained well while avoiding snagging.  I did have some difficultly returning the magazines to the lines in some instances, but that's what a dump pouch is for right?

Hexmag12

To conclude this short review on my newly caused magazines, I believe it's safe to state these magazines are a great buy in terms of quality, and replication to the existent steel counterpart.  I compared them to Kyle's existent deal 10/30 Hexmags and they feel very similar in terms of quality and texturing.  They are easy to maintain and customize, and work great with my kit for what I need them to do.  They are a bit on the pricier side of the magazine market, and some guns may not similar them, but if your gun likes them and then they are definitely a good buy at $74.99 MSRP for a prepare of five from your favorite retailer.
